Pea Harvest 2022 - Aylsham Growers - Norfolk

So summer 2022 kicked off a lot earlier than normal heading to Aylsham during the first week of June to start training and season prep for the fresh pea harvest.

I was assigned to a viner to work the night shift (18:00-06:00) 7 days a week, It's a job not for the faint hearted.

I got to work with a fantastic team and would highly recommend the seasonal job to anybody who wants to work for a very well organized professional business.

Harvesting around 8000 acres in total, 5 viners, 2 high tip trailers, 1 mobile workshop and 1 water bowser for regular hygiene wash downs.

It wasn't uncommon to be doing a full blow down followed by a wash down in the early hours of the morning so it's certainly not a job for anybody afraid of getting wet, dirty of just getting stuck in.

But it was phenomenal to work the shortest night of the year when it never really got dark, we got to enjoy every sunset and sunrise throughout the peak of summer as well as some of Norfolk's finest scenery.
